Quakers say there’s ‘room for more’ at the meeting house table
Whether they're in the centre of towns or the outskirts of villages, Quaker meeting houses are a familiar sight for many across Britain. But for the majority of passers-by, what actually goes on in them remains a mystery. This Quaker Week we're hoping to change that: to share the warm welcome that awaits people if they enter our meeting houses, and to let them know that we have room for more.

‘May love be amongst us’ as we walk the many pathways of faith
For me, the finding of the Quaker pathway of stillness and silence as the gateway to transcendence was criss-crossed with walking – sometimes running – along other pathways of faith. These explorations have been a real joy in my life. But since being a member of the Quaker Committee for Christian and Interfaith Relations (QCCIR) I have deepened that joy by meeting each person of faith, just as they are.

Quaker Question Time: listening and learning together
"Love the questions themselves, as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer." -- Rainer Maria Rilke

Would Little Amal go to Rwanda this year?
Last year, many British Quakers took part in or witnessed a series of events throughout Britain in which a 3m tall puppet, Little Amal, journeyed from the Syrian border via Dover to Manchester, joining in events and rallies during her journey. Amal symbolised the search for a new life of thousands of migrants and asylum seekers. The events were inspiring and full of hope.

Peer mediation: handling conflict in schools
As news of local, national and international conflict dominate our headlines, children and young people across the country are showing the adults how to conflicts can be resolved through listening and empathy. For a better future: Holocaust Memorial Day 2025
I've written before about Quaker involvement in Holocaust Memorial Day. This year my involvement has been much more direct, as I attended two in person national events reflecting on this and other recognised genocides.
