Meeting for Sufferings is a national meeting of representatives of area meetings and some other Quaker communities and committees. It does some of the important work of the yearly meeting in between Yearly Meeting sessions. Meeting for Sufferings will be laid down in May 2026 and replaced by continuing Yearly Meeting sessions that will still include representatives but will also be open to all.

Quakers work boldly to overcome inequality

Young Quakers have buried a time capsule in a timeline of Quaker history in the re-landscaped garden at Friends House in London, topped by the words “peace, equality, simplicity and truth". The capsule contains symbols of a vibrant faith and of their vision for the world in 2116, including spiritual guidance they helped to write, a lump of coal and a solar charger, a letter from Quaker Ruth Cadbury, MP and campaigning t-shirts and badges.

Quakers in Britain have become the first major religious body to be awarded the Pay Compare Mark. The mark is awarded to employers who disclose the gap between their highest and lower paid workers on the Pay Compare website.
