The Meaning of Silence: Worship, Spirituality, and Justice
19 November 2024, Online
In this single live session, we will explore the meaning of silence in worship and spirituality, and in the pursuit of justice. Is silence just an absence of sound, or is it something more dynamic?
We will consider what it means to claim that God is silence, and look at the practice of keeping silent as a commitment to listening and paying attention. If we keep silent in order to listen to God, does God keep silent in order to listen to us, and in particular to those of us who have been silenced within the world? What is the connection between silence and the way of justice and mercy?
