Midlands Green Quakers network brings together those with environmental concerns for monthly learning and support

Concern about the environment has moved Quakers in the Midlands to create a network to explore sustainability and climate justice together. They meet online each month to deepen their understanding, share ideas, ask questions and support each other spiritually and practically.

Exploring the Quaker way online

Over the last year, the Yorkshire Local Development Worker has been offering monthly online sessions for newcomers to Quakers, called 'Exploring the Quaker Way'. Over 70 newcomers from all over Britain have taken part so far, some regularly, and some dropping in for sessions as and when they are available.

Working together in the southwest

Friends from Area Meetings in Bristol, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall gathered together on a sunny day in March in Taunton Meeting House. Some Friends also joined online for the day which was hosted by Ollie Waterhouse (Quaker Life Team Leader) and Jac Blacker (Local Development Worker).

Young people planning their Yearly Meeting programme

There are 3 young people on the arrangements committee for the programme for 11-15s at Yearly Meeting this year. Since being nominated at last year's event they've been working behind the scenes with Quaker Life staff to plan this year's event.

Gathering together in unexpected places

One windy August afternoon, Tavistock Quakers invited Friends from the surrounding area to join with them in a most extraordinary building on Dartmoor.

Toddler group in Oxford Meeting

The Youth, Children and Families Worker in Thames Valley has supported Oxford meeting to start up 'Cake and Play', a weekly toddler and carer's group. Participants say they "love the mix of generations!"

West youth residential in Street
21 July 2023
Young Quakers gathered for an overnight adventure as part of the Quaker Youth Project in the West region. They shared food, community and worship around the theme of transition and bringing in the new. They were very grateful for the warm welcome by Street Meeting House in Somerset.
