QWRC 14 June 2025
Quaker World Relations Committee (QWRC) considered how we welcome overseas visitors at Yearly Meeting and about how British Friends can learn more about world Quakerism.
What is this committee responsible for?
Quaker World Relations Committee (QWRC) helps Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM) keep in contact with other Quaker meetings and groups abroad, understand their witness, communicate ours, and maintain mutual support. QWRC liaises with the worldwide Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC), and in particular with its Europe and Middle East Section (EMES).
What did it do at this meeting?
How were four visiting Young Adult Friends welcomed to Britain in May? How could we welcome visitors better at Yearly Meeting? How can we work with Woodbrooke to help British Friends understand better where our Quakerism fits within the worldwide Quaker community? We asked ourselves these and other questions.
We learned about a recent visit by an international Quaker group to Friends in Palestine and Lebanon, which you can read about here.
We also heard about the work of the Reparations Working Group (details available here) and of a new ecumenical resource on the topic: The Baptist Union of Great Britain : We will repay
How can I find out more?
