BDRC 30 and 31 October 2026

The Book of Discipline Revision Committee met to discuss the launch of the draft new book at Yearly Meeting on 21 November, and to consider how we might encourage Friends to read, reflect and respond to it, between its launch and Yearly Meeting in July 2027.

What is this committee responsible for?

The Book of Discipline Revision Committee is responsible for bringing to Yearly Meeting a new publication (provisional title Our Quaker Way the spiritual discipline of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain) to replace Quaker faith & practice.

What did it do at this meeting?

The key messages from this meeting are:

We reflected on our experiences so far in fulfilling the task which was entrusted to us by Yearly Meeting 2018. We are cautiously excited to bring our ministry to Quakers in Britain, trusting that we have been faithful servants in this long process of discernment.

We ask all Quakers in Britain to engage in the Read, Reflect, Respond programme which begins the collaborative process to make the book stronger. Resources are available to support participation, from Woodbrooke's resources.

We remind Friends that the discernment of the draft text will take place during Yearly Meeting in July 2027. We are working closely with Agenda Planning Committee to support fruitful discernment at yearly meeting sessions in 2027.

Details of when paper copies will be sent to each meeting, how to access the draft online, and how to purchase additional paper copies have been placed online at Our Quaker Way is launching.
