Quakers will have their first chance to hold the new book of discipline in their hands at this month’s Yearly Meeting (YM) session, to be held in London and online.

The draft, titled Our Quaker Way: the spiritual discipline of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain, is being released on the same day as the session, 21 November, at Friends House, Euston Road.

The new book is not a revision of Quaker faith & practice (Qf&p) which was first published in 1994. It is the draft of a completely new book which Quakers now have the opportunity to read and respond to.

Quakers agreed in 2018 that a full review of Qf&p was needed and the Book of Discipline Revision Committee has been working on the new book since 2019.

YM will make a final decision on the form of the book in 2030.

Attendance at YM is open to all Quakers, but registration is required. Those who have already registered for a YM 2026 session do not need to register again but must book through their Sched YM planner.

Our Quaker Way will be free to read online or as a downloadable PDF from lunchtime on 21 November. Six chapters will also be available as audiobook samples on Soundcloud.

Two paperback copies will be sent to each Quaker meeting in Britain.

Individual paperback or eBook copies will also be available for £10 at lunchtime on the day and then will be available from the Quaker Bookshop in person or via mail order. (The charge covers the costs of publishing these formats.)
