New Deputy Recording Clerk appointed
Britain Yearly Meeting has appointed a new Deputy Recording Clerk, Siobhán Haire, who joins Quakers in Britain from The Brilliant Club, a university access and widening participation charity, where she is interim Chief Operating Officer.
Currently nominated as Yearly Meeting Clerk for YM 2022, Siobhán will perform that role as expected (if appointed by Yearly Meeting) before taking up her new role on September 5.
She is a member of Tottenham Meeting and has previously served as assistant clerk of Yearly Meeting. Originally from Northern Ireland, Siobhán grew up in Ireland Yearly Meeting and went to Friends' School, Lisburn, before moving to England to study.
She has trained and worked as both a teacher and a solicitor and has had a varied career across the education, legal and charity sectors in a variety of legal, HR and senior operational roles. Siobhán takes over from Juliet Prager who leaves at the end of May, after over nine years in the post.
Paul Parker, Recording Clerk, said: “I'm really looking forward to working with Siobhán in her new role. It's wonderful to have found someone with such wide experience – among Friends and in the charity sector – to share with Friends and enrich the work of Quakers in Britain."
Siobhán said: "I'm excited to join Quakers in Britain, and work for an organisation I've known and deeply valued in my personal life. I'm particularly looking forward to meeting Quakers from across the Yearly Meeting and beyond, and to hearing about what moves and inspires them."
In her role Siobhán will have responsibility for BYM's communications and governance functions, and will serve as the Secretary to Meeting for Sufferings.
