Harrogate Quakers welcome new people to meeting after they see their knitted postbox topper

Quakers in Harrogate knitted an amazing postbox topper for Quaker Week and displayed it publicly to share information about Quakers and welcome new people to find out more or join meeting for worship.

This is creative outreach to share the Quaker way with new and different people. The bright eyecatching topper portrays two figures who were foundational in establishing the Quaker way – George Fox and Margaret Fell. It also shows key places which have been significant in Quaker history; Swarthmore Hall, Quaker retreat centre where Margaret Fell was born, Firbank Fell where George Fox often preached and Derby Gaol where he was imprisoned for his beliefs.

The QR codes are linked to the websites of Quakers in Britain, George Fox 400 and Harrogate Quaker Meeting, so people can easily find out more.

Last week Harrogate meeting welcomed a new enquirer, someone who had never been to meeting or come across Quakers before and found out about it after seeing the topper on the local post box.
