Children’s Programme at Meeting for Sufferings
On 7 December, in parallel with Meeting for Sufferings at Friends House, children participated in a programme of activities which aimed to spiritually enrich and nurture young Quakers, build communities beyond geographic regions and offer enjoyment, creativity and fun.
The event was a success with all participants saying that they had enjoyed it and would like to come again. The theme was around ways of belonging and how communities do things together.
The day included collaborative games, an activity about ways of belonging in Quaker meetings. There was a visitor from the Book of Discipline Revision Committee who explored some of the words the group would use to explain their Quaker experiences. They also looked at a book by Benjamin Zephaniah called People Need People and talked about all the activities we enjoy doing with other people. The session finished with an electronic candle lit epilogue.
This programme will be running alongside future Meeting for Sufferings on 1 March and 5 July 2025. If you know of any children who may enjoy participating, please look out for details on our events pages or email us.
