Yearly Meeting - "Faith, community and action"

The annual gathering of Quakers in Britain will for the first time this year be a blended event, held online and at Friends House in London from 27-30 May.

Friends will gather together at Yearly Meeting to listen to the promptings of love and truth as they consider the theme of faith, community and action, with online preparatory events from 21 May.

The Swarthmore Lecture will be given by Helen Minnis, who will speak as a scientist and Quaker, addressing issues of white privilege in both spaces. The Salter Lecture will be given by Ruth Cadbury MP.

Helen Minnis is Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Glasgow and she and Woodbrooke, the Quaker Study Centre which organizes the annual lecture, see it as part of the ongoing conversation within Britain Yearly Meeting, and Quakers worldwide, about becoming an anti-racist church.

Another highlight will be a huge shared meeting for worship on Sunday, May 29, at 10.30am, taking place across Britain in homes, meeting places and at Friends House. Quakers in Britain will come together as a single loving, inclusive and all-age community, connected via a live link.

All members and attenders are welcome at Yearly Meeting. There is no charge, online or in person, but booking is essential. Book your place now via the Registration page. Once you have booked your place you will be given access to the YM Planner where you can book into YM sessions, faith in action workshops and theme-related events.
