Quakers in Britain team wins award for COVID-safe service
The hospitality team at the London offices of Quakers in Britain have won an award for the COVID-safe service they delivered over the last year. At the London Venue and Catering Awards 2021, the team topped the category for 'Best Client Support During COVID-19'.
For many years, Quaker work in Britain has been supported by income from commercial lettings at its London headquarters – Friends House. Although the last year has been a real challenge for the lettings operation, Friends House has continued to deliver a safe, reliable service.
Paul Henderson-Grey, CEO of Quiet Company, the Quakers' trading company that runs Friends House, said: “We're so glad to have won the award for Best Client Support During COVID-19. Last year was really challenging for everyone, but our team went the extra mile to support our customers in so many ways. So, I personally want to take this opportunity to thank them for everything they did and continue to do for our customers."
The service that won the award included creating a special COVID-19 resource centre, producing videos to keep customers informed, and a 'Peace of Mind' promise that allowed free cancellation or postponement.
The judges praised both the safety measures and the commitment to staff welfare and sustainability, saying:
“Impressive commitment to clear core values, staff welfare and sustainability – to the benefit of clients."
“Innovative, sustainable solutions to pandemic challenges like maintaining social distancing and creative catering."
“Training offered to staff encouraged empathy – fully supported and retained staff during the pandemic."
“The online COVID resource centre is great and the staff training sessions are a great idea to help staff stay on top of requirements and support clients."
