Understanding War to Make Better Peace
20 October 2022, Online
Our peace testimony compels us to reject all fighting with outward weapons. But armed conflicts continue even in an age of global interdependence. How can we respond if we do not understand the nature of war in our time and why militarisation remains deeply ingrained in our societies? This session explores our feelings about war, how modern wars have changed and are changing, and how we might respond creatively beyond being just anti-war.
This session is the first of a series which Woodbrooke is running on the Quaker peace testimony in a time of war – what we can do. When you register you will get access to a resource page where recordings of the sessions are posted. Future topics include addressing the long-term trauma of war, supporting human rights and peace in Russia, and challenging militarism, with more topics to follow.
