AUG 12

The Quaker Way

12 August - 22 September 2022, Online

Are you new to Quakers and keen to find out more? Are you an experienced Quaker but want to refresh your knowledge? This course sets out the Quaker 'basics', and is an ideal next step after the 'Essentials of Quakerism' course.

This course gives you an understanding of Quaker history and its international reach, and the importance of spiritual experience to the Quaker Way. We will discuss what happens in a Meeting for Worship and how Quakers make decisions and organise themselves. We will explore what Quakers mean by 'testimony' and explain simple spiritual practices for you to experiment with.

Each week contains online learning materials to engage with, and forums to share reflections and ask questions. There will be a live discussion session each week. This course is intended for people who already have some experience of Quaker community, whether online or in person, and focuses on Quakerism as practiced by Britain Yearly Meeting (the liberal unprogrammed tradition).

The date period given for the course is when you are expected to interact with the online material and discussion forum; you can work on this at any time to suit you. The live Zoom sessions are at 19:00-20:30 (UK time) every Tuesday during this period.
