Spiritual Nurture and Pastoral Care in a Nutshell

This online one-day course is an opportunity for those new to, or returning to, Spiritual Nurture or Pastoral Care to explore the heart of the Quaker way in these roles. The day will deepen your understanding and strengthen your confidence in serving your Quaker Meeting.
Together, we will explore what spiritual nurture and pastoral care is, and why we undertake this work. There will be space to reflect on how your individual gifts can be offered in service to your Quaker community. We will draw on our Book of Discipline, as well as on one another's experience.
The course is facilitated by two experienced Elders and Pastoral Friends who are passionate about creating welcoming spaces in which Friends can learn from one another and deepen their understanding of this core Quaker practice and tradition.
Pastoral Care Friends are also invited to a four-week online course, The Essence of Quaker Pastoral Care, in September 2026. For Elders, this Nutshell course complements the Essentials of Quaker Eldership monthly series, held online on second Mondays.
