QVA Working Retreat to Claridge House
14 - 17 April 2025, Surrey
Quaker Voluntary Action organises working retreats in the UK, Europe and beyond. Volunteers participate in practical projects and reflective sessions that promote personal spiritual development with meaningful engagement in the world. Work activities may include gardening, decorating and internal renovation, refugee support, sustainability projects and woodland management. Volunteers also participate in facilitated reflective sessions on a Quaker theme. The QVA theme for 2025 is "Caring for Creation".
Quaker Voluntary Action is a Quaker Recognised Body.
Claridge House is a Quaker retreat centre in Surrey. The mid-19th century house is set to a backdrop of beautiful gardens and hosts retreats and courses year-round. Claridge House was founded by the Friends Fellowship of Healing to provide a place for rest, relaxation, and convalescence. We will be doing some interior decorating and DIY jobs around the house, such as repainting corridors, doorframes, and skirting boards, and restoring an outside wall. In our facilitated reflection sessions, we will be exploring the theme "Caring for Creation" using the Theme Resource Pack, which is a living document that is added to over the year.
