Preparing for DSEI
29 August - 12 September 2023
In September, hundreds of Quakers will descend upon the London borough of Newham to protest the set-up of the DSEI arms fair.
Quakers in Britain are working with Quaker Roots, Stop the Arms Fair and others in this work.
If you are coming to London to protest the arms fair directly here are a few ways to get involved
Go to the Quaker Roots 'Get involved' page to find out what role you could take. There is also a summary of the key roles on a Volunteer Jamboard.
To about any of this and meet other volunteers please join the Quaker Roots volunteer briefing on Tuesday 29 August.
Key dates:
- Thursday 7 September is No Faith in War Day, where Quakers join other faiths in witnessing for peace during the arms fair set-up week. Quaker Roots will be holding meetings for worship over the course of the day. The main one is at 1pm.
- Monday 11 September (afternoon), Quaker Roots is leading a walking vigil around the offices of arms companies in London.
- Monday 11 September on the opening eve of the arms fair, Quakers in Britain and Pax Christi will hold a silent, candlelit vigil in solidarity with victims of the arms trade.
- Tuesday 12 September is the opening day. Quaker Roots will hold a meeting for worship.
There is more information on our 'Arms trade' page including contact and legal information.
If you'd like to order a 'Quakers for Peace' t-shirt, please visit the Quaker Bookshop.
More information will soon be available on activities for those unable to attend the DSEI action in person.
