Introduction to Rowntree Histories
11 August 2025, Online
As part of the Rowntree Centenary, this session will be an introduction to the histories of the Quaker Rowntree family, their world-known confectionary company and their social reform work, including the three Trusts founded by Joseph Rowntree.
This session will introduce participants to some of the research carried out by The Rowntree Society as well as looking at the kinds of Rowntree stories they can tell which have continuing relevance to contemporary issues like poverty & social inequality, gender inequality, ethical business practices and worker welfare, and addressing colonial legacies.
Following the talk from Nick Smith, there will be a Q&A which will give participants an opportunity to engage in deeper discussion with the stories and themes raised.
