Going forth in peace - (lunchtime session)

1 July 2025, Online

Going Forth in Peace - 12:00 - 13:30 - Preparation and support to take action (lunchtime session)

What are we called to do, individually and collectively, and how are we called to be? How can we go forth in faith and in peace, in the face of increasing division, oppression and escalating conflicts? What support is there to take action following spaces of discernment?

This online space will provide space to reflect and then speak in small, facilitated groups, to explore what next steps we might take for peace, as individual Quakers but also how this might inform centrally managed peace work with Quakers in Britain.

The changes to the political landscape across the world that have taken place over the last few months have left many of us concerned, fearful and disturbed. It is an important time to come together.

In recent months, we are being called to re-consider how to put our faith in action. In April, Friends gathered for a Meeting for Worship outside Scotland Yard, returning police violence & aggression with love & peace. In May, British Quakers will be gathering online and in person at Yearly Meeting (April 29-1st May and May 23-26th), young adult Quakers gathered in Bristol for Young Friends General Meeting (May 2nd), and European Friends are gathering in Brussels for a joint conference in June (20th-22nd June). Friends from all over the world have been gathering online in two Meetings for Worship hosted by the Truth and Integrity Group and outcomes from these Meetings for Worship will be shared globally through the Friends World Committee for Consultation.

For all of us, this is an important time to ask not just what are we called to do, individually and collectively, but how are we called to be? How can we go forth in faith and in peace, walking cheerfully and responding to that of God everyone, even in the face of increasing division, oppression and environmental devastation?

As is often the case, we ask ourselves again and again, what does love require of us?

Join us for the morning meditation, lunchtime or evening session to reflect and prepare on how to take local action for peace.
