Feminist Theology for Quakers

This course will pick out some developments in the history of feminist theology which are potentially interesting to Quakers: we will look at how approaches to Biblical characters change using the example of Jewish feminist writing about Eve and Lilith, consider how debates about women's ordination in other churches connect to the Quaker Women's Group Swarthmore lecture, and ask what happens when we call God He, She, They, It, or Thou.

Over five weeks, we will explore some key themes in feminist theology, learning from work by a wide range of authors. There will be some optional material to read or watch between the live sessions. We will start fresh with each idea, whether from feminism or theology, and no previous knowledge of either area is needed. People of all genders are welcome.
