Britain Yearly Meeting: What’s Changing and Why 1

23 June 2026, Online

As Britain Yearly Meeting moves to continuing Yearly Meeting sessions, the way we gather to make decisions together is changing. This session offers a helpful introduction for Friends, particularly those appointed as a Yearly Meeting representative, who want to understand what these changes will mean in practice.

In this session, Sarah Donaldson, Senior Change Leader: Quaker Governance for Britain Yearly Meeting, will explain what is changing and why, and how these developments will shape participation in future Yearly Meeting sessions. She will explore in detail the new process and pattern of meetings across the year, the evolving rhythm of discernment, and how agendas will be brought forward and shaped, among other details.

Yearly Meeting representatives will replace Meeting for Sufferings representatives. Sarah will explain how this new role will support continuity in attendance, strengthen connections between Yearly Meeting and Quaker communities, and enable wider participation, reflecting a greater diversity of Quaker experience.

To enable as many Friends as possible to attend, this session is also being offered on alternative dates:

  • Monday 29 June
  • Wednesday 1 July
