Are there any disabled people in the Bible?

11 April 2023, Online

'I never thought there were disabled people in the Bible!' Once you begin to see disability in the Bible, you see it everywhere, not just in the healing stories. Was Jesus disabled? Does that question intrigue or anger you? Come along and find out more.

In this session, you will look at the Bible through the lens of disability theology. Together with other course participants, you will unpack what it might mean for both disabled and non-disabled people to find disabled characters and experiences in scripture, and how it can make a difference to our lives.

You will reflect on two short passages - one from the Old and one from the New Testament - in the plenary and also in smaller break out groups. This session will be led by Ruth Wilde, who works in the field of disability inclusion for both Inclusive Church and Northern Baptist College.
