A Quaker Exploration of the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises
6 October - 3 November 2026, Online
Curious about the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises? Wondering if they might be useful to you? Explore various Ignatian prayer practices, gain an understanding of the arc of the retreat journey and delight in the fact that discernment is central to both Jesuit and Quaker traditions!
By the end of the course, you will have some familiarity with reflective practice, spiritual consolation and desolation, journalling, lament, contemplative prayer, various ways of approaching the Jesus stories, discernment of spirits and exploring your vocation. During the sessions you will be able to spend some time in prayer with material which might include poems, music, pictures and scripture.
This course is a taster – it is not the full Exercises. However, you will be invited to spend 45 minutes each day, between sessions, praying with Ignatian style material and reflecting on the experience. Wider sharing will be on offer during the sessions. Your Quaker tutor is a trained and experienced Ignatian Guide.
