Making teams for under 18s programmes at Yearly Meeting
Quakers across the Yearly Meeting have come forward to volunteer to help run the children's and youth events at Yearly Meeting this year, 23-26 May. The programmes for under 18s give opportunities to explore Quakerism and build community, and couldn't happen without the generosity of volunteers.
The Youth, Children's and Family team have the truly delightful task of going through applications and reading people's reasons for volunteering. It is a joyous and humbling task to digest the wealth of experiences volunteers bring and the passion and commitment they share in creating inclusive, creative Quaker spaces for children and young people.
Yearly Meeting is a real place of building connection; connections between Quakers from different regions, connections to the divine and connection to a theme. This year all the under 18 programmes themes focus on peace. 11-15s will be exploring 'Peace inside and out' and 16-18s will be interrogating 'How do we as Quakers create the peace that is needed in ourselves and our communities? - these themes are chosen by the arrangements committees of young people which plan and facilitate these events.
The very last volunteer applications are coming in - more information and apply here. Bookings for the programmes have started coming in. Bookings for YP@YM (11-15) & JYM (16-18) close on 23 February and bookings for Children's Programme (0-11) close on 31 March.
