Taking Positive Action With Our Money

11 June - 12 July 2022, Online

It can be hard to talk about money. Many people want to take positive action with their finances, but don't know where to start. This Woodbrooke online course will explore how, individually and collectively, you can help shape a fairer, greener world through your financial choices.

Our use of money – as individuals and faith communities – is part of how we bear witness to our values and our hope for the future. This course will help you connect your finances (banking, pension/investments, spending) with your concern for the climate crisis and other justice issues.

Through online sessions, supportive discussions and material for individual reflection we'll explore ethical issues around money and how to speak up for change. While we can't offer specific financial advice, you'll go away with tools for decision making and ideas for practical action.

The tutor, Rosie Venner, has been developing resources and facilitating workshops for individuals and churches wanting to connect their faith and their finances as part of ECCR's Money Makes Change programme (https://www.eccr.org.uk/money-makes-change).

Rosie is keen to make the topic of ethical finance more accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. Feedback from participants at Money Makes Change workshops and courses:

"There was something for everyone from the less knowledgeable to the specialist to go away and think about. A good catalyst for action."

"An excellent course, with lots of thought-provoking material and opportunities to discuss ethical matters about money that are not often discussed in everyday life."

The date period given for the course is when you are expected to interact with the online material and discussion forum; you can work on this at any time to suit you. The live Zoom sessions are at 19:30-21:00 (UK time) every Wednesday during this period.
