‘Woke’ Bible Study: Is the Bible racist?

The Bible was written by different peoples over a period of about 1,500 years. It was written by different communities in different human languages and idioms and edited by diverse individuals and communities.

Whenever a person opens the Bible, they begin a process of interpretation shaped by their own identity and circumstances (e.g. visualizing Jesus as a blue-eyed blond man despite the fact that he was Jewish and had been born in the Middle East). This session will help us to become more aware of these dynamics, so that we can try and avoid perpetuating old injustices.
