Migration and Peace in Europe

11 June - 2 July 2024, Online

What are the links between migration and peace? This course, led by the Quaker Asylum Refugee Network and Saskia Basa, Migration and Peace Coordinator at the Quaker Council of European Affairs, will seek to answer this question.

Some of the questions we will engage in together in this course are: What are the pressures that people in movement currently face across Europe? How do different countries in Europe handle asylum seekers and migrants? What can we do and who can we engage with?

This course will use a mix of presentation and discussion, reading and reflection to support participants to develop more understanding and have the opportunity to learn from each other and the tutors.

The themes of the four weeks are:

Week 1: Responses to migration in Europe: Current State of Play

Week 2: Understanding Migration and Peace

Week 3: Peaceful Approaches to Policy-making

Week 4: Community Engagement and Solidarity - Taking Action for Peaceful Migration

Live sessions take place on Zoom every Tuesday at 18:30-20:00 (UK time).
