Meeting for Worship for the Climate

24 July 2023

An open meeting for worship for all those who care about the climate, whether taking action or not.

This will not be somewhere where you will be quizzed on what you are doing and people who currently feel stuck, scared or like they are not doing enough are very welcome, as are people who are deeply involved in activism for climate justice (and anyone in between).

There will be a 10 minute activity to help us centre down, 30 minutes of worship followed by a welcome to all and 15 minutes of afterword, in smaller groups if we are a large group. We will close with 5 minutes for written reflective feedback to help us shape the space going forward.

This is the first in a number of meetings for worship held by Quakers in Britain to experiment with how to hold a spiritual community for Quakers concerned about climate issues. It has arisen from requests for a space like this from Quakers who were in touch with us following the Extinction Rebellion 'The Big One' action in April.

If you have any thoughts on what is needed if this respect, we'd be very happy to hear from you. Please also get in contact if you have any access requests we should know about or you would like to be welcomed in a language other than English or Welsh during the short welcome section. You can email us on faithinaction@quaker.org.uk
