Friends Summer School
13 - 19 August 2023, Shrewsbury
The Friends Summer School is a residential week of themed, thought provoking sessions on topics relevant to young people today, creative workshops and fun social activities, all experienced within an inclusive and supportive community.
The purpose of Summer School is to give young people the chance to live together in an Quaker community. Like being a Quaker, Summer School is all about the experience that you have for yourself so we can't promise exactly what it'll be like for you. The opportunity is there to make friends, think about issues that affect you, try out new creative activities and have fun in an environment which is totally different to home and school.
Summer School is for young people who are aged between 11 and 17 and 10 year olds who will either be 11 before 1st September 2022 or who have older siblings going too. Most young people have some Quaker family connection or are friends with Quakers.
As long as you want to be part of a 'Quaker Community' then you're welcome to come. If you have a friend who would like to come with you but is not a Quaker, they are also very welcome.
Friends Summer School is a Quaker Recognised Body, and its events are not organised by Britain Yearly Meeting.
