Exploring Quaker Roles

20 March 2024, Online

Are you wondering what holding a Quaker role is all about? Whether you have recently been nominated or are in role and seeking some fresh perspectives, this engaging exploration of what being a Quaker roleholder can mean could be for you.

This informal and interactive session provides you with an opportunity to more fully understand and appreciate the what, how and why of service as a Quaker roleholder.

We will look at the place and purpose of roleholding in the wider context of Quaker spirituality, your meeting and the whole Quaker community. We'll explore the benefits of serving your community and where to go for support if things are difficult.

This session aims to give you a deeper understanding of the reality of roles and service in the Quaker community. We hope it will leave you

  • More grounded in the connection between service and our spiritual lives
  • More confident about ways to make the role work for you and your meeting
  • Clearer about where to go for help
  • Better able to decide whether or not to accept a nomination
  • Please note: this session is NOT intended to provide training for any specific Quaker role.

The course tutors have held a range of different roles between them and bring an accessible and welcoming style to this topic.
