Discovering Writing by Women of Colour
5 May - 1 June 2023, Online
Broaden your horizons by reading short stories and essays by women of colour and reflecting together how they challenge our assumptions and open up new ways of seeing our world and understanding others' experiences.
It is all too easy to stick with the writers we know but fiction and essays give us opportunities to explore the lives of others and deepen our understanding of the lives, needs and desires of others.
Each week we will read a short story or essay by a woman of colour. We approach the works in a spirit of openness and curiosity. In the live sessions we will reflect on how the writing speaks to us and what insights it gives us into the spiritual, physical and political experiences of people who are very different from us.
The sessions will take the form of a reading group with everyone invited to share their reflections either in plenary or small groups.
The date range given for the course is when the online content and discussion forum are live; you can work on this material at any time to suit you. The live Zoom sessions are at 19:00-20:30(UK time) every Thursday during this period.
