CRQS/QSRA Quaker Studies Conference

23 - 24 June 2023, Birmingham

The annual CRQS/QSRA conference in Quaker studies provides an opportunity to hear the latest scholarship in the field. This year's theme is 'Quakers, power, and minorities'. Full information at: https://www.qsra.org/2023-qsra-conference.html

When communicating Quaker history and values to each other and to the world, Friends have happily acknowledged the Religious Society of Friends as a minority speaking truth to power. However, recent re-evaluations have shown that Quakers exercised power over people minoritised by colonialism and participated in enslavement. This year's theme is Quakers, power, and minorities, and will focus on how we can revisit the established Quaker narratives to appraise the extent to which Quaker hagiography may have triumphed over inconvenient detail.

This conference is being held at the Woodbrooke Centre but there is also the opportunity to take part via Zoom.
