Climate Justice Gathering

You do not need to have any prior engagement with these issues, or to have participated in the Exploring Faith and Climate Justice course to attend this gathering. All we ask is that participants read these short, informative booklets [https://www.quaker.org.uk/efcj] before attending, so as to come with hearts and minds prepared.

A gentle, spacious programme will be shaped by a committee of participants and tutors. There will be time to be together and to be alone. There will be activities that nourish you spiritually, creatively and mentally. There will also be space for a worshiping community focus for our Yearly Meeting in its engagement with the climate crisis.

This follows on from our year of learning on The Exploring Faith and Climate Justice course, in which we covered a number of challenging issues around systemic change, reparations, justice and liberation. This gathering will be an opportunity to talk and reflect more deeply on some of these issues, and perhaps for new directions or actions to emerge.

If you are new to this area, this is a perfect opportunity to gently engage and perhaps discern your climate witness. Our witness can take many forms, not everyone self-identifies as an 'activist', and that's ok. Whether you encourage your community to make changes to the way they do things, protest on the streets, or campaign for policy change locally or nationally, it's all necessary and it's all our witness.

Faith can help us keep going but from time to time we need to replenish your spiritual resources. We need to remind ourselves why we are doing the work and connecting as a community can help us gather ourselves in order to go out into the world again refreshed and renewed.

The Gathering begins on Friday with the evening meal and ends with lunch on Sunday.
