Exploring what different aspects of Quaker spirituality mean to us.

Over the last year, the Yorkshire Local Development Worker has been offering monthly online sessions for newcomers to Quakers, called 'Exploring the Quaker Way'. Over 70 newcomers from all over Britain have taken part so far, some regularly, and some dropping in for sessions as and when they are available.

Each session has explored an important aspect of Quaker spirituality, such as the peace testimony, silence, worship, and discernment.

One of the participants said:

Each session offers a safe space for reflection, questions and plenty of discussion and ends with silent worship. People attend online from all over the country, so you get to hear lots of different perspectives.

Because it's recognised that we all have lots of different things going on in our lives, it's OK to just attend those sessions you're available for.

I found that I learnt a lot about Quaker practice, and found the experience of meeting up with others energising and refreshing. And the great thing is you don't need to know anything about Quakers to participate, you can just come with your questions and personal views. There's no pressure to contribute either, as it's all very relaxed. I'd recommend it to anyone starting out as a Quaker."

These sessions are continuing with the new title of 'What is the Quaker Way?', and anyone who is new to Quakers is welcome.
