2020 Vision: Finding hope in hard times
6 - 8 March 2020, Dunfield
2020 vision will be a fun, welcoming and thought provoking event for 13 – 17 year olds. Whether you are new to Quakerism, or have been a Quaker all your life, this event will give you the opportunity to meet new people, make friends, play games, engage with spiritual practices and have deep conversations.
We are inspired by Thich Nhat Hahn's quote; 'Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.' We will be exploring the theme of 'finding hope in hard times' through speaker sessions, discussions, reflection and worship.
A participant at a similar past event said, 'We played lots of games [which] was really fun and a good way to get to know other people… I learnt a lot about Quakerism… Overall it was amazing and I enjoyed it a lot so would like to go on more trips like it and encourage any other kids to come as well because they will enjoy it so much!'
The event is run by Quaker youth workers (Lee Lester and Kirsty Philbrick) and volunteers.
It costs £125 to attend, including accommodation and food.
Participants will need to arrange and pay for their own travel, but it is likely we will have group travel arranged from Sheffield and Bristol. We do not want anyone to be prevented from coming from lack of funds, if you need financial support to attend, please get in touch with your Local or Area Meeting or the CYP team (email@example.com)
